so, after a three year break, I went back to CrossFit.  And I re-read all my earlier blogs.  I stopped in 2017, it was  a kind of dragged out break up, David had some major knee issues, we had been to Mexico in the winters for longer and longer time periods, with no work outs, and then my knees also got worse.  An MRI in March of 2017 confirmed both knees had torn meniscus, the surgeon thought one might heal, the other might need surgery.  Then we went back to Ontario, and spent a month with Leda for her final days, we ate a lot of butter tarts and cinnamon buns and bacon, and barely left the house for a month.  I think I tried to go back, and hurt myself, old injuries flared up.  And then I decided to just rest.  for a while, a long while.  let my knees heal.  So fast forward three years, a move to another province, leaving a long term career job, and starting the next chapter, and then, Covid-19 and I was overweight and out of shape.  I started walking in Feb 2020 because it seemed like something I could do, and I needed to do something.  So, 2-3 times a week I walked 3 or 4 km.  I loved my walks, but I needed more. David went first, and soon injured himself again.  There is a "Prime" class at a local CrossFit, designed with those of us in the prime of our life, as in, over 60.  David took a break, then went back, and this time, I went with him.  He soon stopped again, but I kept on. 2x a week, modified and scaled workouts.  At first it seemed too easy, (and a little hard because I had not done anything for a while).  I was also going to a stretch/yoga class 3x a week, so something every day!  Working from home (Covid-19 is in full swing), and getting healthy.  I started to loss weight, gain flexibility, muscle and strength.  The stretch class ended (our instructor has to leave PEI, and I was bummed out...)  but I continued with CrossFit.  Now it is 5 months later, I can row like a demon for 2 minutes, my lifts are heavier, and the whole thing seems right again. Very very glad there is a class that works for me, 2x a week is perfect, the workouts are as hard as I make them, but always fairly short.  One knee is not overly happy, but the other knee seems to be healed.
